Most jewellery repairs at our Estepona workshop take about one week. That’s the honest, general answer, not a marketing promise, but the real timeline we work to for resizing, stone resetting, broken chains, clasp repairs and engraving restoration.
There are exceptions on both ends. Some repairs can be done same-day. Full transformations of inherited pieces take several weeks. The right timeline for your piece depends on what it needs – and on telling us when you need it back
What affects your repair timeline
A one-week estimate is a starting point, not a guarantee. A few things can move it in either direction.
It can move faster if:
You are a visitor on the Costa del Sol with limited time, and the job is simple (rhodium plating, link broken are the most common example)
The piece needs only one straightforward fix, with no waiting on materials
It can take longer if:
The repair needs a specific stone or metal we don’t have in stock
Several jobs need doing on the same piece at once
It’s a high-demand period, such as wedding season or December
There’s also a category that doesn’t wait for anyone: if a ring is cutting into a swollen finger, we treat that as urgent and deal with it immediately. Some things simply can’t wait a week, and we don’t ask people to.
.

Rhodium plating: The same-day exception
Rhodium plating is the repair we are most often asked to rush and usually by someone on holiday in Estepona who didn’t plan for it and is leaving the next day.
When that happens, we try to accommodate it. It’s a straigthforward job (unless loose stone, worn prawns involved) that same-day turnaround is realistic. We’d rather get your ring looking bright again than send you home without it. Because it means moving other work in the queue, there’s sometimes a small additional charge for the rush.
This isn’t a guarantee we can do it instantly for everyone who walks in; it depends on what else is on the bench that day. But it’s worth asking. The earlier in the day you bring it in, the better the chance.
Jewellery Transformation takes longer
Here is why
Repairing a clasp and rebuilding your grandmother’s ring into a new piece are not the same job, and they don’t run on the same clock.
A full transformation turning inherited gold or old stones into something new happens in two stages:
- Design phase: 1 week to 10 days. We talk through what you want, then create your design so you can see a photo realistic image before anything is made.
- Fabrication: 15-20 working days. Once you approve, we create a resin example for you to try on and than we move into the actual handcrafting. This is where the time goes into real goldsmithing, not paperwork.
In total, expect roughly 4 to 6 weeks from your first consultation to holding the finished piece. That’s longer than a repair, but it’s also a different kind of work: nothing is fabricated until you’ve seen and approved the design first.

When timelines can change:
August and material shortages
There’s one month where we ask for extra patience: August. Many of our material and stone suppliers close for the summer, which is normal across the trade in Spain. If your repair or transformation needs a stone or metal we don’t have on hand, August can add real delay to an otherwise normal timeline.
Outside of August, the same logic still applies on a smaller scale, if we need to order something specific for your piece, that wait gets added to the estimate we give you when you bring it in.
Rush Jobs: What's Realistic and What Isn't
What is realistic and what isn’t
We have made a wedding ring in a week when a couple needed it for their date and everything lined up ;stock available, no complications, clear communication from the start. It’s happened, and we’re proud it has.
But it is not the rule, and we won’t tell you it is. Craftsmanship has its own pace. A rushed setting or a rushed resize is how mistakes happen, and that is not a risk worth taking with a piece that matters to you.
What actually gets you a faster result isn’t pressure it’s clarity. Tell us upfront when you need the piece back, and we’ll tell you honestly whether that’s realistic and what it would take.
How to get the most accurate timeline for your jewellery piece
General estimates only go so far. The only way to know exactly how long your repair will take is to bring the piece in for a free assessment. We will look thoroughly at what is necessary to undertake and give you a real timeline, along with the quote (which usually takes 2-3 days to prepare for more complex jobs).
If you are not yet sure your piece needs professional attention, our guide on signs your jewellery needs repair can help you figure that out first. For a full overview of what we repair and restore, visit our jewellery repair and restoration services page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I ask for an urgent repair? Yes, you can ask. Simple jobs like rhodium plating can sometimes be done the same day, especially for visitors leaving the area soon. More complex repairs are harder to rush without risking the quality of the work.
Does the timeline change if I bring in several pieces at once? It depends. We usually try to get all your pieces done together, on the same timeline. If one of them needs to be ready for a special occasion, tell us and we will do our best to prioritise that piece and get it to you in time.
How long does it take to transform an inherited ring into a new design? Roughly 4 to 6 weeks in total. 1 week to 10 days for the 3D design and your approval, then 15 to 20 working days for fabrication. This can extend if specific stones or materials need to be sourced, particularly in August.
