El Taller de JC repairs and restores gold, silver and platinum jewellery in our workshop on Calle Sorolla, Estepona. We work on rings, chains, bracelets, earrings and inherited pieces — and we never give a quote without seeing the piece first. [Message us on WhatsApp](#whatsapp) to arrange a visit.
What We Do
Some pieces just need fixing. Others have a story worth saving. Whether your ring needs resizing, a stone has come loose, or you have a piece from someone you loved sitting in a drawer — we can help. We work in gold (yellow, white and rose), silver and platinum. We do not repair costume jewellery or bijouterie.
Our Repair & Restoration Services
Ring Resizing
A ring that doesn’t fit doesn’t get worn. We resize rings in gold, silver and platinum — up or down — without compromising the design or weakening the band. If you have trouble with your knuckles, ask us about butterfly spring inserts.
Stone Resetting
Loose stones are more common than people realise and easier to lose than you would expect. We inspect and reset diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies and other gemstones, checking every prong and setting so the stone is secure.
Rhodium Plating
White gold naturally yellows over time. Rhodium plating restores its bright, reflective finish and making it look as it did the day you bought it.
Broken Chains, Clasps and Links
Broken chains, snapped clasps, cracked links. We repair the structure of a piece so it holds and looks as it should.
Polishing & Professional Cleaning
Daily wear leaves its mark. We remove tarnish, surface scratches and build-up, restoring the original brilliance of your piece.
Engraving Restoration
Names, dates, dedications worn engraving can be re-engraved so the words that matter most stay legible.
Maintenance and Inspection
If you wear a piece every day, an annual inspection is worth it. We check prongs, links, clasps and settings before a problem becomes a loss.
Jewellery Transformation
Giving inherited pieces a new life
This is where repair becomes something more personal.
Many of our clients come to us with a piece they have inherited a ring from a grandmother, a bracelet that belonged to someone no longer here. The piece has value, but not in its current form. They don’t want to sell it. They just want to be able to wear it.
We redesign and transform inherited jewellery into pieces you will actually use. The original metal and stones are incorporated where possible; so the history stays, but the piece becomes yours.
“Words fail to express what a wonderful and talented artist Juan Carlos is. His passion and eye for design and detail are truly exceptional.” Google Review
Why clients trust us with their most valued pieces
We assess every piece in person. We never quote without seeing the jewellery. This protects you and it means the quote you receive is honest and accurate.
Juan Carlos is a master goldsmith. Every repair is done by hand in our workshop, not sent away to a third party. You know exactly who is working on your piece.
We keep you informed. Christiane manages communication throughout the process, by WhatsApp, in person, or however works best for you.
We work in English, Spanish and German. Most of our clients on the Costa del Sol are international residents or visitors. There is no language barrier.
“Juan Carlos did a perfect job — not only enlarging and repairing them without any visible cut but also cleaning them up, rhodium coating them, straightening claws and making sure they are good to last me another 25 years.” Google Review, ring restoration and repair

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the initial assessment free?
Yes, always. We look at the your jewellery piece together, tell you honestly what it needs and what it will cost and there’ i no charge for that conversation. If you decide not to proceed, no problem.
Do you repair costume/fashion jewellery or bijouterie?
No. We work exclusively with gold, silver and platinum. Costume or fashion jewellery requires different materials and processes. We’d rather be honest about what we do well than take on work we can’t stand behind.
Can you use my own gold or stones?
Often yes. If you have gold from another piece or stones you want to incorporate we will assess what is possible. Using your own materials is part of what makes a restoration genuinely personal.
How long does a repair take?
It depends on the piece and what it needs. Simple repairs can be done in a few days. More complex restorations take longer. We will give you a realistic timeframe when we see the piece.
Do I need an appointment?
You’re welcome to come in during opening hours, but if you want to make sure Juan Carlos is available to look at your jewellery piece with you, it is worth messaging us first on WhatsApp.
Can you transform an inherited piece into something completely different?
Yes. This is one of the things we love most. We use the original metal and stones wherever possible, and we design something new with you using 3D design tools so you can see it before we craft it.
What if I'm not sure whether a piece is worth repairing?
Bring it in. We will give you an honest opinion. If it’s not worth repairing, we will tell you.
